The renovation of the Édouard Branly Student Residence, located in Metz, continues to progress at a steady pace. While the delivery of the buildings remains scheduled for September 2026, recent site visits confirm a transformation that is now clearly visible throughout this iconic student residence on the Metz campus.
Led by SEM EMH, in collaboration with Cabinet HBI, Hêtre Architecture, and the teams from Eiffage Construction, this major renovation project aims to thoroughly modernize the student housing facilities while addressing today’s challenges in terms of comfort, energy performance, and quality of life.
Housing redesigned for today’s students
During a recent site visit organized in early April, the various stakeholders involved in the project were able to discover several shared-apartment model units. These spaces already provide a glimpse into the future appearance of the residence.
The new layouts focus on:
- more functional and welcoming living spaces,
- individual bedrooms equipped with kitchenettes,
- improved organization of shared spaces,
- and enhanced day-to-day comfort for future residents.
The improvement in the quality of the interior fittings is now tangible and visible throughout the entire construction site.
A renovation project focused on sustainability
Beyond a simple refurbishment of the buildings, this project represents a true structural transformation of the residence. The renovation notably includes:
- a significant improvement in energy performance,
- full compliance with current technical standards,
- and a more sustainable and environmentally responsible approach to student housing.
Located in the immediate vicinity of higher education institutions and the university campus, the residence will maintain its strategic position at the heart of student life in Metz.
With only a few months remaining before the planned delivery in September 2026, the project is now reaching a decisive stage and already offers a clear preview of the complete renewal of this historic residence in Metz.
