A Project of Innovation and Sustainability
SEM EMH, in partnership with the HBI firm and the Hêtre Architecture agency, is continuing the renovation of the Edouard Branly Student Residence in Metz—an ambitious project aimed at transforming this space into a modern, comfortable, and eco-friendly living environment for students.
An Ambitious Project for an Innovative Residence
The goal of this project is to provide students with an optimal environment in terms of comfort and energy efficiency. Among the work undertaken are improvements to the building’s energy performance, the addition of individual rooms equipped with kitchenettes, and the reorganization of common areas to foster interaction and a sense of community among students. Furthermore, technical and safety standards have been enhanced to comply with current regulations.
Show Apartments and Optimized Shared Living
The project also focuses on high-quality interior design. In November 2024, a construction site meeting allowed stakeholders to visit two show apartments (T1 and T2), illustrating the upgrades made, such as reinforced insulation, updated electrical systems, and the installation of high-speed internet with Wi-Fi. The rooms, designed for shared living, include spacious kitchens and living areas, as well as separate bathrooms and toilets for maximum comfort.
A four-bedroom shared unit particularly drew attention thanks to its functional design: a generous amount of space, optimized storage, and welcoming common areas. The renovation project showcases a practical layout while guaranteeing each roommate’s privacy.
A Prime Location and a Double Anniversary in 2024
The residence’s strategic location—close to schools and the university campus in the dynamic Metz Technopole district—allows students easy access to academic facilities and student life. In 2024, the Edouard Branly Student Residence celebrated its 40th anniversary, a milestone that coincided with the 100th anniversary of SEM EMH, highlighting this residence’s historical importance in the local student ecosystem.
Toward a Sustainable and Innovative Future
The renovation of the Edouard Branly Student Residence represents a renewal under the banner of sustainability, innovation, and modernity. This project—both functional and responsible—actively contributes to the modernization of Metz’s infrastructure, providing students with an ever more pleasant living environment tailored to their needs.
